Goodmans Energy evolved out of the relationship between David Rubery and Stan Goodman, who have worked together on wind farm projects since the first large scale wind farm in New Zealand, Project Te Apiti for Meridian Energy in 2003. David formed Goodman Energy with Goodman Contractors in 2022 and is the Managing Director.
David previously managed the Higgins Projects Division where Goodman Contractors were the main earthworks subcontractor working with David on most of his previous wind farm projects, and subsequently the major NZTA RoNs projects David Managed including MacKays to Peka (M2PP) and Peka Peka to Otaki (PP2O).
David has 27 years’ experience in the wind energy sector and has been an active member of the New Zealand Wind Energy Association and a board member representing the construction sector. David has managed the CBOP for wind farm projects including Meridian’s Te Apiti, Westwind and Mill Creek, Trustpower’s T3 and Tilt’s Waipipi.
Post the Fletcher buy-out of Higgins, David formed a new Business, DCR Civil providing commercial and construction management services to the roading and wind energy sector. He has consulted to a wide range of developers and consultants for the early development phase, consenting and construction for wind farm construction throughout New Zealand.

Stan Goodman, Director of Goodman Energy is the Managing Director of Goodman Contractors, one of New Zealand’s largest specialist earthmoving and civil contractors being in business for over 55 years.
Goodmans has successfully delivered the civil works for earthworks, drainage and environmental management for Meridian’s Te Apiti, Westwind, Mill Creek projects and Trustpower’s T3.
Goodman Contractors moves over 4 million cm of earthworks annually together with a wide range of civils works across the quarrying, energy, forestry, roading and commercial/residential sectors and employ over 250 staff across various construction divisions.
Goodman Energy brings together this team as an experienced dedicated Wind Energy CBOP construction company, keeping a privately owned New Zealand business at the forefront of wind energy construction ensuring a personal approach that you can count on based on a proven track record.
Goodman Energy self-performs construction services for a wide civil scope including bulk earthworks, drainage, pavement and hard stand construction, quarrying, trucking, and management services for environmental, quality, health and safety, sustainability, survey and site construction/engineering management.

Goodman Energy partners with a group of experienced specialist suppliers and subcontractors who have a strong proven track record in the wind CBOP sector and with the Goodmans team.
This supply chain includes aggregate supply, concrete manufacture and placement, steel reinforcing supply and instalment, cable installation and substation/transmission line construction.
